Course description

Dance improvisation develops body awareness, spontaneity, and creativity. It teaches you to react, express yourself, and discover new movement possibilities that you were not aware of before. It connects movement with space, rhythm, emotions, and social interaction. Movement improvisation is not only an artistic expression, but also mental and physical training.

How does it work?

Your brain is made up of billions of neurons that connect to form complex networks. Every new movement creates new connections. Dance improvisation is one of the most effective forms of neurotraining—it connects logical analysis with intuitive perception and physical movement.

Dance improvisation forces your brain to work in real time – it connects motor centers, emotional circuits, and creative zones. It strengthens the connection between the right (intuition, emotions) and left (analysis, speech) hemispheres.

Studies show that improvised dance increases concentration, decision-making, and adaptability. Dance is considered one of the best preventatives for neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer's disease).

During improvisation, endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin are released—hormones associated with feelings of happiness and motivation. At the same time, cortisol (the stress hormone) levels decrease, reducing anxiety and tension.

Movement improvisation allows you to express emotions that cannot be put into words. It's not about “being a good dancer,” but about finding your own movement language.

And what about the voice? It dances too!

  • Liberation of the diaphragm – dance and voice are connected, improvisation helps you breathe freely.
  • Vocal resonance – we explore the power of our own voice, its timbre and dynamics.
  • Tension reduction – relaxing the voice and jaw eliminates stress and physical tension.
  • Breathing work – we will improve lung capacity and natural breathing rhythm.
  • Raw expressiveness – the voice as a tool for authentic expression and deeper connection with movement.

How will the lesson proceed?

You will warm up, activate your breath and movement. We will create a safe space for discovery – both individual and group. You will experiment with movement, voice, dynamics, space, and interaction. We will focus on the body's response to impulses and connection with emotions through exercises from physical theater, new dance, contemporary dance, qi gong, and contact improvisation. We work with the rules of improvisational creation, where movement becomes part of the space, music, and group energy. At the end, we share and reflect on our experiences.
